Stories to listen to.

Hi Year Six, how are you all? To help your listening skills it would be really great if you could listen to an audio book. There are lots of moments when you can do this easily: when you are on a car journey, getting dressed in the mornings or getting ready for bed at night, etc....I have been looking for some of my favourite stories from when I was more or less your age, from an author I like a lot: Roald Dahl. Here is a selection. You could choose one (or more) to listen to....Of course, the more stories you listen to, the better! If you have the book and you can read it at the same time, fantastic! (Click on the title to go to the webpage)

Last of all, can you decribe this picture?
Is there really a hole in the ground? Answers in you comments on the blog, please.

Have fun!!

Everybody: past simple and past continuous practise, and speaking practice

Hello again, year six....
We have been looking at the past simple and continuous tenses. Click on these links to pratise them....(Sometimes the past continuous is called the past progressive)

Next, some pictures for you to use to practise your speaking skills over the weekend. Describe each picture or cartoon sequence in as much detail as possible, and check any vocabulary you don't know in a dictionary...(What will happen when the golf-player hits the ball?)

Send me a post to tell me which picture is your favourite, and send me a comment so I know you have been using my blog.

Have fun!.

KET: Listening practice: telephone numbers

Hello KET students...Here are some listening exercises: you may have to write down a telephone number in the listening exam, so this is good practice. These exercises are quite difficult because the teacher only says the number once (one time), but if you find it too hard you can always pause and go back a bit to listen again. Have a pencil and paper ready!

Now, can you describe this picture?

Have fun!

PET. Listening practice: spelling names

Hello PET students...Here are some listening exercises: you will have to listen to and write down a name in the listening exam, so you need to practise. The  following exercises are quite difficult because the teacher only says the number once (one time), but if you find it too hard you can always go back at the end to listen again.) On the other hand, it would be great if you could do it listening only once, that way you would get really skilled at this activity.) Have a pencil and paper ready!

Now, can you describe this picture? Look at it carefully for minor details.

Have fun!
