PET: Reading practise

Hi PET students. Here is a part 5 text for you to do, because most of you are having problems with this part of the exam. You can check the answers at the bottom when you've finished. Remember to do all the reading activities as if they were an exam, and then go over them again to look up and learn any vocabulary you didn't know.

Stories to listen to.

Hi Year Six, how are you all? To help your listening skills it would be really great if you could listen to an audio book. There are lots of moments when you can do this easily: when you are on a car journey, getting dressed in the mornings or getting ready for bed at night, etc....I have been looking for some of my favourite stories from when I was more or less your age, from an author I like a lot: Roald Dahl. Here is a selection. You could choose one (or more) to listen to....Of course, the more stories you listen to, the better! If you have the book and you can read it at the same time, fantastic! (Click on the title to go to the webpage)

Last of all, can you decribe this picture?
Is there really a hole in the ground? Answers in you comments on the blog, please.

Have fun!!

Send me a post to tell me which picture is your favourite, and send me a comment so I know you have been using my blog.

KET: Listening practice: telephone numbers

Hello KET students...Here are some listening exercises: you may have to write down a telephone number in the listening exam, so this is good practice. These exercises are quite difficult because the teacher only says the number once (one time), but if you find it too hard you can always pause and go back a bit to listen again. Have a pencil and paper ready!

Now, can you describe this picture?

Have fun!

PET. Listening practice: spelling names

Hello PET students...Here are some listening exercises: you will have to listen to and write down a name in the listening exam, so you need to practise. The  following exercises are quite difficult because the teacher only says the number once (one time), but if you find it too hard you can always go back at the end to listen again.) On the other hand, it would be great if you could do it listening only once, that way you would get really skilled at this activity.) Have a pencil and paper ready!

Now, can you describe this picture? Look at it carefully for minor details.

Have fun!

Welcome back!

Hello Everybody, and welcome back to school! Here is a great webpage that has a lot of really useful activities for you to do:

Here is a very useful revision exercise:

And here is some revision of vocabulary we did last term:

Next, a video to watch practising words like sometimes, always, never etc:

Adverbs of frequency video

Try playing some games on the Cambridge English webpage to practise English. You just need to click on the link below, then play 'Funland' first, and 'Academy island' later. You will probably find that 'Funland' is a bit easy for you at the lower levels, but that it gets more challenging towards the end. 'Academy Island' is more difficult but it's good practice, so give it a try! (You can try the lower level games like 'Monkey puzzles' and 'Shop and drop' for a bit of revision too, if you like.)

Games

Last of all, for a bit of speaking practice, describe this picture:(can you see anything strange about it?)

Have fun!
